Pine Bayou Golf Course has everything that Gulfport golf enthusiasts could desire, adding challenge for players of the world’s greatest sport.
It is a magestic course filled with natural wonders, all made possible by the wetlands that surround it. It has all the natural essence of the deep Mississippi region; everywhere is accented by tall foresting pines, hidden water hazards, and the Southern hospitality that is only found in the region.
This Gulfport golf course is my new favorite, because it is beautifully maintained by the local Navy services and it plays like magic for all 18 holes. Seasoned, pros and even amateur golfers will find the Pine Bayou Golf Course longer than similar par greens nationally. For those familiar with the average greens today, this will be like entering an enchanted kingdom comparatively.The Pine Bayou Golf Course makes dynamic use of the surrounding landscape, which is really it’s biggest selling point. Playing it made me take time to notice the fauna and flora around me, not just play through it like a sightseer. It has natural contours, hidden traps, water, sand, elevations and slopes that were perfectly designed for interesting game play with an American feel, but still maintains the classic fielding that comes from classic courses globally.
When keeping score, these greens rate higher than most. My experience here will be bringing me back again. This has become my home course, when away from home. So golfers and country clubbers, my advice is to take a trip to the Mississippi gulf coast to get away from it all. Come for the scenery, stay for the golf.
