Established in 1947, the MSÂ Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo had a meager beginning with just a few local competitive fishermen. Â Through the years the rodeo has gained much popularity and experienced continuous growth.
Over the years, the event has been hosted in several cities and places along the MS Gulf Coast. Â It’s current and long standing home is Jones Park in Gulfport.
Awards are giving out daily for a wide variety of species; Blue Marlin, King Mackerel, Redfish, Shark and Tuna just to name a few. Â There are also some outstanding state records with a 1,054 lb Blue Marlin caught in 2002 and a 885 lb Shark caught in 1983. The amazing fish caught each year in the competition are placed on display for rodeo attendees to view.
This four day event which is always held over the July 4th holiday, offers activities for the entire family!  Live entertainment, bikini contest, fair, food and drinks, Kids Day & Fishing Competition, and one of the largest 4th of July fireworks displays along the Gulf Coast.
